Timely shipping and easy install
Our old heater quit on us in the coldest part of the winter. Those of you who are waterbed owners know that a cold waterbed in the winter months is not a good thing. We were glad to find a merchant on Amazon with the product we needed. It shipped within a week and we were able to quickly and easily replace the old heater unit with this one. Then we were back to comfortable nights once again.
Good Product, but has some drawbacks
I have the Thermal Guardian Touch Temp Digital Waterbed Heater. The Product Details for this product don't tell you which model this is and there isn't a close-up for the heater control so you can see what the model is or how you will control the temperature. My heater works well, except for one thing. My house is old and has very little insulation, so it tends to be chilly in the winter. The Thermal Guardian heaters profess to keeping the temperature to within 1/8 of a degree of the set temperature. That's fine if your house isn't chilly, but when it is the heater warms to the set temperature and then turns off. The chilliness of the room cools the water enough for the heater to come back on and thus the heater continues to turn off and on several times per second indefinitely. The only way to stop it is to turn the heater off or change the desired temperature a couple degrees and once it reaches the new setting you have to change it again. I can't help but think, if you let it turn off and on all the time it will wear out and anyone who has a waterbed knows it's a pain to drain the bed and put in a new heater any more often than necessary. On days when the sun warms the house, this does not happen. I don't plan on changing heaters, just know this can be a problem.
Advice to those needing a water bed heater!
First of all price and quality check ebay for what you need. Don't do business with "BOB" that is Wisconsin @ phone number, 651-776-1324. He cheated me twice now. I ordered some padded cap rails for the sides of the bed, that were suppose to be leather but got sent some made out of a velvet type material that when it gets dirty you can't just wipe off like you can the leather kind. At the time I figured it was an accident and didn't want to be ugly. Then when I ordered a new water bed heater he over charged me by $30.00. I plan on trying another company "waterbedsheets" on ebay. I talked to eddy on the phone and he seemed like a possiblity. His number is: 1-800-205-8003. This IS NOT an endorsement for him...just someone you might check out on ebay. I certainly don't recommend "BOB". He would not replace the water bed padded rails unless I wanted to pay for the return of the ones they miss sent to me and paid for the shipping of the right ones. Before buying anything, price check and look for reviews on items for your bed.
Order was not as stated
I ordered the waterbed heater. It said free 2 years supply of waterbed conditoner. Well it did not come with conditioner. When I emailed them about it, copy and pasted the ad, I got no response. I see that since I emailed them they have taken off the ad for the free condition. If you do not plan on fulfilling what your ad says, then why bother to deceive people? Good thing I went ahead and ordered some condition or I would have been left with a bed with no conditioner. I still think I should get it. It should not have been in the ad! But I never even got an email saying "our bad" It would have been nice to have at least sent a response. I did buy the heater and could have gone with another company!!!!

Jittery Controls
The heater works, the controls are simple and easy to use. However, the control is a bit too sensitive in that the heater will turn on and off and on and off, rapidly and repeatedly, when it reaches the target temperature. For example, you set the temp to 90 degrees, the heater will heat up the waterbed to 90 degrees, then turn off... and in a second, as the temperature drops slightly, it turns back on again. Repeatedly. Maybe this is normal, but I would rather it turn off until the heat drops a few degrees, then warm it back up again. That jittering might reduce the life expectancy of the unit because it's turning on and off so many times a second, and I'm also leery about what it's going to do to my electricity bill.
Everywhere else you will pay more for this item
I just received this heater directly from the seller that is listed in the link at the top of this page. The seller is new to Amazon and does not have any feedback ratings yet, so I was a bit reluctant to be the first one. I found their website and finally decided to order this item from them. The seller provided excellent email notices and tracking information. They shipped my heater on the same day and I received it in less than 72 hours all the way across the country. AND their price was lower than everywhere else on the web that is selling this same item.

Sadly, they will not be able to get a feedback rating because I did not purchase this through Amazon. However, I predict that if you choose to order from them you will get excellent, fast service.

I highly recommend this item and this seller.

Hoping For The Best...
Two years ago we purchased one of these to replace antother one that had lasted 30 years. The replacement only lasted two. This is the same brand (just about the only brand I found). I'm just hoping this one lasts longer than 2 years. It did heat up the bed when installed.
Works Great
This is a far better heater than the original that came with my waterbed. You can control the temperature much more accurately. Also, it seems sturdier and to be made of much higher quality materials.
