Foster parents are needed
Life can be crazy for Jacob and Jeannie Grieser, but the north Brainerd couple thrive on a little chaos.
For the past seven years the Griesers have been licensed Crow Wing County foster parents and, in addition to Jeannie’s busy home day care, they have taken in an estimated 50-60 foster children into their home.
The couple volunteer a few times a year for emergency shelter care, which means if it is their month they are one of two foster families that are on call to receive a foster child or sibling group on a moment’s notice, day or night. A couple weekends ago a newborn was dropped off by police at 11:30 p.m., then picked up at 1 a.m. to be taken to family members in a different county. They’ve taken in infants and children who have no hats or coats — even in the dead of winter — and children who don’t have shoes in the summer.
