... Matt Wood of Des Moines will receive the Recent Alumni Achievement Award June 25 at Simpson College's Alumni Weekend. The Alumni Achievement Award honors career accomplishments, service to the community and service to Simpson.
Five high school international exchange students who studied in Des Moines recently returned home to finish their high school educations in Africa. The students are: Ally Amri Onai of Tanga, Tanzania; Esta Yuda John Amnaay of Arusha, Tanzania; Halima Idris of Benue State, Nigeria; Karima Aminu Diyo of Kaduna State, Nigeria; and Ummul-Khair Ango Aliyu of Kaduna State, Nigeria. These students, along with 55 others from Nigeria and Tanzania, spent the past t10 months living and studying in the Midwest through Iowa Resource for International Service (IRIS) and the U.S. Department of State's Youth Exchange and Study (YES) Program.
