Very good and undetectable
I'm very pleased with this mattress protector. I didn't notice any off gassing, it doesn't make any crinkly noises, and it is comfortable to sleep on.
I bought two queen size protectors. It was very tight to put on my pillowtop mattress so it will be ages before I want to wrestle it off and on again for a wash. The other protector is on my futon and it fits loosely but it isn't a problem.
I have not tried out the waterproofness myself but I've taken the word of Amazon reviewers that it is excellent in that area as well

Let me start by saying this was exactly what I was looking for and am very pleased.

I have a dog that sometimes makes "mistakes" on the bed (errr).

I was sleeping on a plastic drop cloth under the sheets. Great for the problem, but mercy did it reflect the heat.

I got this Luna, and the first night, I was very disappointed because I woke up sweating like a pig, but I think it was just me. That was only that night (and I had been recovering from a cold). I feel NO heat radiating from the pad. I wonder if those reviewers that had problems with reflected heat had it vinyl/plastic/whatever side up rather than cotton (or whatever) side up.

After having this for a couple of months, my little doggie girl had an accident last night. It worked great at preventing it getting on my mattress pad and topper I have underneath.

I have a select comfort bed with all that foam and the additional really thick mattress topper (king size). The mattress protector fits great. No problem with the thickness of the mattress with topper.

I greatly recommend this product.

Washed great (and you can even dry it).

I bought this mattress protector because the kind you can buy at Walmart wear out so fast due to washing. I was surprised at how you can not tell it is even there. I haven't had to wash it, yet, but so far I like it.

Even keeps mattress safe from a bulldog puppy
I purchased this mattress protector for a king sized mattress that has a plush pillow top (which makes the bed several inches thicker than a standard). The protector not only fits perfectly, but has saved the mattress from numerous bulldog puppy accidents. I have washed and dried it as directed at least five times and it is still in great condition. The protector does make the bed warmer, but I have not noticed any crinkling noise. It is a great value and works!
Exactly as described
This waterproof mattress pad is terrific. It does exactly what it says it will. It's very slim and fits easily under the sheet yet offers great protection. It's also breathable and is very comfortable and doesn't make any noises you'd associate with a waterproof cover. It's also fully sized and fits the mattress very easily. I purchased a sleep number bed and the warranty is only good if you use a waterproof protector on it. I have two of these Luna mattress protectors. I'd recommend them to anyone and I'd certainly purchase them again.

When I first got this I was replacing an older one. I paid $80 for my first one from a home store. I think this one was half that and it was exactly the same. It protects my bed, and fits perfect. I have a pillow top so I need big sheets and this fits perfect.

does not work for me, twice
Bought this with my new mattress and it did not work. Got the pillow protectors too, and they didn't work either. The pee still leaked through - but not a lot, but mattress and pillows still damp and smell like urine.

Called the customer service, they were very pleasant and sent me a new pad and two new pillow protectors. I mailed them the ruined mattress protector and pillow protectors at the cost of $10 for them to "test" it. They said there was a crack in the lining.

I put on the new mattress protector that protect-a-bed mailed me (without washing it), my toddler peed the bed again... and again, it did not protect it. Urine still leaked through just like before. I did not even wash it when I got it, so there was NOTHING done to void the usage of the pad. I took it straight out of the packaging and put it on the mattress. I no longer have faith in this product and am in the process of trying to get my money back.

We've purchased other waterproof mattress protectors before and THOSE work fine (we have 3 others). We only got protect-a-bed because the salesman at the mattress store recommended it highly when we bought the new mattress.
NOT WATERPROOF!!! DON'T BUY IT!
This product is not waterproof. My cat urinated on the bed and it soaked right through onto my memory foam mattress! What a waste of money and now I've got to deal with the mattress.
NOT as advertised!
I bought this mattress protector at the urging of the salesman in the mattress store. I bought it *specifically* to guard against any damage my three year old son might do to the bed (urine, juice, etc.). I was aware of the delicacy of the protector at the time of purchase and have never washed or dried it on any setting other than low, and never by itself. Further, I've never even used a harsh detergent, much less bleach. The mattress protector has now failed twice to stop urine from soaking into my brand new mattress. As you may well know, stains can and will void a mattress warranty. So buyer beware. I cannot comment on the customer service as I've only just sent them an email, but since the page never loaded after I submitted it, I don't know if it went through. Save yourself the money and get something a little less breathable at a chain store until accidents are no longer a concern. Absolute waste of money.
Do not wash in hot water
We've loved this mattress protector for almost two years now. When we finally decided we should wash it, I followed the directions and washed it in hot water. Evidently my water is too hot; the plastic (or plastic-ish) liner melted all together. The product is unusable. After the fact, I read on the protect-a-bed website that they should be sterilized in 120 degree water. That isn't exactly hot. Anyhow, if you use just warm water, I'm sure it'll hold up for you!
Mine leaked, Too delicate, Weak warranty
I own one of these that I purchased with a new foam matress. I purchased it to prevent damage from bed wetting. The salesman assured me that the product would protect the bed and the warranty even included professional cleaning if the pad failed. However, I recently discovered that the warranty is actually VERY weak. Unfortunately urine leaked through the matress pad one night. That morning I tired to get warranty service. I found that customer service is closed on weekends. Then I read the warranty details on the website. The pad must be mailed back to the manufacturer for inspection. Then they determine if they will honor the warranty. That means the matress will not get cleaned anytime soon. In addition I discovered that the pad's care instructions are ridiculous. It can not be placed in the dryer alone. It must be dried on low heat along with towels or sheets. That information is not included on the care instruction tag sown into the pad. The manufacturer will not honor the warranty if they determine the pad was dried alone. I ended up renting a carpet cleaning machine to wash my matress. The pad completely failed to perform. In addition it can not even withstand typical washing and drying. I recommend that consumers stay clear of this overpriced inferior product.

Good mattress protector
I purchased this protector for our new foam memory mattress because I wanted to extend the life of the mattress and have been known to knock a glass of water off the nightstand onto the bed. Though I haven't had to test it's absorptive capabilities, I'm very pleased. The protector is plastic with a terry cloth like top, thin but it still looks like it could hold a fair amount of liquid and there isn't any easy way for water to get through it (water would have to fill up the layer on top of the mattress and then drip down the side of it). There is a slightly louder rustling sound now that it is on the bed, but it hasn't caused a problem at all. Overall, I'm very happy with it and would recommend it.

I haven't spilled anything on my mattress yet, but it does look waterproof. What I can tell is that I do not notice the cover at all. It is a great way to protect your investment!
Durable, quiet and waterproof. A hot flash friend!
I am in the midst of surgical menopause and also have a topper on my bed that is about 4" thick. Even with a pillow top mattress and my topper, this mattress protector fits! With hot flashes and an occasional night sweat, this is great. We needed a new cover because we bought one from a big box store and ended up wearing a hole in it at the feet (restless legs perhaps). The other cover lasted about 2 years but was a complete mess when we replaced it with this one. This cover is in an entirely different class of mattress cover and seems extremely durable.

The ONLY place where I think it might show some wear over time (or may rip) is with the material on the sides. The material allows for a lot of stretching which is great with elastic all around. The material on the sides is a fine mesh. It's definitely a nice cover.

I am giving it 5 stars because of the price and the quality. Also because it comes with a 15 year guarantee! You can't beat that.

The top is a terrycloth material which has something on the backside that keeps it waterproof and allergen proof -- a big plus without dealing with TOTALLY having to encase your mattress.

The mattress cover I ordered was the queen size. It fits my bed perfectly. I have a pillowtop, thick mattress too. I got the item quickly and it was not damaged. Great job!!!
Dust mite-Proof Mattress Cover
I bought this to protect from dust mites. It probably does its job, but I didn't notice a big difference in my allergies, I'm allergic to other things besides dust and there are other sources of dust in my life.

The product is not a fully-enclosed case but rather like a fitted sheet that extends much further beneath the bed. The apparent change in the bedding is minimal once it is put on. You'll still have the same texture of your sheets on top of it, but it will make a slightly different sound. The difference is really trivial though. The pillow protectors are the same way, but they are full encasements with zippers, though they are a little too big for my pillows. Not a big deal though.

I would recommend this product.

exactly what I was looking for
My newly potty trained 2.5 yr old has an awkward to change bed in a tiny hot room. The last thing I wanted is a sweaty plastic sheet or a difficult mattress bag. This thing is perfect. Doesn't make crinkly sounds, no smell, thin, breathable. You can sleep comfortably enough on it w/out a proper fitted sheet over top as well. Was a little put off by the price as I would have to buy two for middle of the night accidents, but well worth it. I intend to use it for years.

This product is just as described and as reviewed. I do not feel it under my sheets. It is smooth and thin. Great feel. So far no bed wetting, so I can not comment on it's protective properties just yet.

wonderful product
great product, super thin, not bulky and it really works. we had the vinyl kind and even though we washed according to the instructions the backing got ripped up and ruined after only 2 washes. The backing on this is great, quiet and washes perfectly. i don't put it in the dryer and it does take a while to air dry, but is ready by my daughter's nighttime.
Seems good, but have not tested it yet
It doesn't crinkle, seems thin, and should work. I haven't tested it for real yet, but poured some water on it after washing it, and it just sort of puddled up on top and didn't go through. I only gave it four stars because it's a bit on the pricey side for a thin, waterproof mattress protector.

After an hour, get a damp cloth and wipe the surface of the mattress. Sprinkle baking soda and rub it a little bit. This should help diffuse the odor. After an hour vacuum the mattress.

Kalaz aksed: One of my kids will be dry for awhile, then wet the bed for 7 or more straight days. The bedding gets soaked, including the bed spread, waterproof mattress protector, and absorbent mats. The washing machine is monopolized by bedding for more than a week and other laundry piles up. Any suggestions on how to deal with laundry issue better? (I'm not interested in "interventions" like medication or pull-ups, just suggestions on how to better wash these items. And yes, i've talked to the doc about it and she's not concerned about any health issues.)

Karen T answered: Since its only the bedding you are washing, I would add Febreeze in the washing machine during the wash cycle. (use the purple bottle) I don't know why but the purple bottle gets odors out the best. I know you said no intervention but my 5 yr old son is a bed wetter and still in diapers at night. Diapering at night for bed wetting saves a bunch on laundry and protects bedding and childs skin. I would bet you would save $$ by diapering vs. doing all that laundry. Just my 2 cents. But the Febreeze works in the laundry.
