After writing out a check for more than $5,000 a year ago for two love seats and two recliner chairs, Richard Cady of Mystic expected high quality furniture: La-Z-Boy has a good reputation, classy television ads.
But when the special orders from the Warwick, R.I., store arrived last July, Cady and his wife were less than thrilled.
There were mechanical problems with one of the recliners and the love seats were poorly manufactured.
"We noticed that both love seats have problems with the recliner mechanisms operated very loosely and the whole seat as well on both sides was very wobbly. Looking at the love seats, the left side seats drooped down with a left hand slant. In addition both left hand seats when sat on, sagged very low as though the springs were defective," Cady wrote me.
