Assembly is never a concern with Pragma BedTM bases: no tools are required to put one together. All you need to do is pull it out of the box, unfold it, and place it in its designated space. If you wish to store your Pragma BedTM frame, just fold it up and hide it away. All bed frames, except the twin-sized frame, come in packages of two bed frames that once joined make up their desired bed size. This means that for a queen-sized bed, our customer will receive two bed frames that have the following dimensions when combined: 30.25" x 23" x 10.75", 36.8 lbs. Very sturdy and easy to setup
This was a great purchase. I got it to use with a 10" memory foam queen mattress with no box spring. It came neatly folded up in a sturdy box, I just slid it out, unfolded it and put the mattress on it. Job done! It doesn't squeak or anything and it feels very solid. It comes in two pieces, each a twin size, so you just set them up next to each other to put a queen on it. They are nice and light, so it would be easy to fold them up and move them if necessary. Overall just a very solid purchase.
great bed frame
I am very pleased with this bed frame. A great buy for the money. It arrived in a surprisingly small box. That's because it came in two, stacked pieces. Each piece was folded over into three sections. It was very easy to assemble--unfolded the frames, opened the legs, then attached the two sides with the screws and wing nuts. The frame is also relatively light in weight. It should be easy to disassemble and will store compactly. The support of the springs is excellent, very firm. The support is better than with the box spring I used before.
Wow, I am quite impressed!!
In a day when it seems so many manufacturers skimp on quality, this mattress platform comes as a welcome surprise. The frame is way more durable than I had expected and assembley is as simple as unfolding and inserting two screws (for the queen size). The vertical supports fold down and lock into place. I have not noticed any squeaking or instability at all. An excellent product and not to heavy to move around. The parts fold into two sections (refering to the queen size one) and the size of each section when folded up is about 22" x 15" x 5", a very managable size and weight for moving. I made a very good decision. I am putting a 12' memory foam queen size mattress on this frame directly, and it works quite nice! If you have ever dealt with bed bugs, then this is a good setup because you can easily remove your mattress and inspect underneath, and move things around if need be as well as treat the area.
Great product
Bought this bed frame to replace my sagging queen box springs, and glad I did. I set my mattress directly on top and use a 3" memory foam topper to smooth it out. It's firm, but you can't feel the bars through through the mattress and topper. This frame is very supportive, and very sturdy. The bed has screw hole on all sides so it's great for attachment points if you're into the kinky stuff, or if you want to attach a headboard or other decorations. The bed frame squeaks a tiny bit if you move on it just right, but overall is quieter than the box frame I had. Folds up very compact, and will be extremely convenient when I move. It seemed pricey when I bought it, but you can feel the quality in the build. This thing was designed for prison and military beds, so I don't doubt I can take abuse. The only part I don't like is the queen set is just two smaller frames linked together by a bolt with wing nuts and a plastic spacer washer. I have a feeling the plastic washers are the weak link in this bed, but so far no problems!
Perfect solutions for small spaces
Did tons of shopping and reading before ordering this bed frame through Amazon. It is PERFECT! Simplicity (no hassle set-up, no box spring) is coupled with quality and great price. You literally unfold two frames and hook them together with two bolts. Timely delivery too.

This frame coupled with my new light-weight foam Ikea mattress and eight 27"x13" storage containers from The Container Store gives me a great night's rest, a small attic's worth of storage space, and a new feeling of spaciousness without sacrificing the luxury of a nice big queen bed for me and the two critters who share my space. The frame is firm enough that the critters jumping on and off the bed does not ripple into my space, waking me up.

When I moved from home to small condo, my much loved bed was not working. Mattress was so thick and heavy that when I put risers under it so I could use standard size underbed storage boxes, the bed was so high I had to "climb" into it. (It was incredibly easy to fall out of--but the bruises are fading). New frame takes much less room not only because I chose not to have a headboard or footboard but because it fits the mattress better. No space is wasted. My new mattress is lightweight and easy to make as well as to sleep on. Eight large containers under the bed are the equivalent of a small attic. I am pleased.

BEWARE!!!! For the First timer canvassing these items, be aware that it is not 5.5"thickness, it is not 2 either but 1 3/4". The crow will turn white if you'll wait to air it out to 2" or even 5.5"

great foam topper
This was as advertised...a great cushion-top for our teen's bed. He's really pleased, as it took a below-average mattress and made it a very comfortable bed.

Make sure to leave in out for the time you are told or it will not grow properly. It is extremely helpful, my bed only felt a little better than the floor before I put the soft sleeper on. Very nice to have.

Great for memory foam
We purchased this frame for our memory foam matterss. No box spring or anything, the memory foam sits right on this frame. Works great. My wife set it up and said it was super easy. For the price, it's a great deal. Easy to fold & store if you don't want to use it as well. I will say that with just the memory foam mattress on the frame, the bed sits pretty low. But we really don't mind. No problems with creaking or anything though we've only been using it for a few weeks.

Time for a new mattress, so, we went the memory foam route. Only wanting to purchase a headboard, I was pleased when I found this platform frame. It shipped quickly, high quality, easy to assemble!! Awesome support for memory foam. Like another reviewer mentioned, there is a nice amount of space between floor and frame for storage! Five Stars....highly recommend if you are planning on purchasing memory foam mattress =)

I bought this for my Simmons Beauty Rest king size mattress.
This is the perfect platform frame. It was easy to set up, just unfold and put in a couple of screws, slide it into place and put your mattress on it. It has plenty of room for storage under the bed. It does not squeek. No need to buy extra slats. I will be getting more of these, I am done with regular bed frames.

The only concern we had when we bought it was that it would make our bed too low, but that isn't the case at all. It actually gives you a lot more room under the bed than a standard bedframe and boxspring setup.

Do I need a box-spring with a platform bed?

For about a year now, I've just had a futon mattress on top of it, but it's not the most comfortable thing in the world (the mattress, that is), so I am going to replace it.

when I buy a regular mattress for the platform bed, do I need to use a box-spring with it?

In my opinion futon mattresses pretty much s*%k however get yourself a good mattress and put it on the platform bed and you'll be just fine I promise . well in my opinion it would look best with the box spring.other wise if you have your mattress on the floor and your bed frame has side rails it will be harder to make your bed,you know having to tuck in sheets and such.plus it won't look like you just moved in and it will look more complete

bobbyblue359 answered: We have tried both and don't see much of a difference. The box springs over time take a set and there develops a "divot where each body sleeps. On any bed you should turn the mattress and box springs every 90 days both top to bottom and side to side, (one at a time, not both together, and in opposite directions), so that no sleep patterns develop in them as crushed areas. That being said, we believe that box springs are a waste. You can go one step softer in your choice of a premium mattress, (like a Stearns & Foster), and not suffer any comfort loss. Over 50 years I have saved a lot of money by just buying the best mattress, and forgoing the box springs. Personal choice, but I sleep well and have never had a problem, and enjoyed the savings.
