Do I need a box-spring with a platform bed?
Sara aksed: I have a platform bed. The bed has slates, not all one flat surface -- the slates are wide wooden pieces, with spaces in between them. For about a year now, I've just had a futon mattress on top of it, but it's not the most comfortable thing in the world (the mattress, that is), so I am going to replace it.
My question is,
when I buy a regular mattress for the platform bed, do I need to use a box-spring with it?
Doug answered: You do not have too but you can if you want. In my opinion futon mattresses pretty much s*%k however get yourself a good mattress and put it on the platform bed and you'll be just fine I promise . well in my opinion it would look best with the box spring.other wise if you have your mattress on the floor and your bed frame has side rails it will be harder to make your bed,you know having to tuck in sheets and such.plus it won't look like you just moved in and it will look more complete
