What do you all think about the platform beds?

I want to use contemporary furniture in my master bedroom. Something like a platform bed or Japnese bed. The size of my bedroom is 18" width 16" length and 11" height. I want to use purple/ lilac and lemon yellow/ cream combination there.

We have a platform bed, and I love it.
1] try one with storage underneath - great for out of season, or once in a while clothes
2] then get all the furniture you want to match at the same time - they discontinue styles every few years [

Platform bed or traditional?

If you are under 30 and living in a small 1 bed room apt..would you buy a traditional matching bedroom set for
$1300 or a nice contemporary platform bed for $250 and spend some extra bucks on dresser/mirror that dont match with the bed

Platform beds are cool. Go to Ikea if there is one near you, they have tons of "bachelor" "dorm room" furniture that is nice but cheap. The only thing that sucks is you have to put it all together.
