Like freshly washed laundry dancing on the line on a sunny day, this season’s white decor is a welcome sight. Just when we’re ready to fling open the windows, shake out rugs and scrub the memory of winter away, stores are responding by stocking tabletop accessories, throw pillows, furniture and more in crisp whites and soothing creams.
A few white accents make an enormous difference, so you don’t have to spend a lot on this update.
Change out dark lampshades. Replace jewel-toned throws for nubby vanilla ones. Store away the heavy window treatments, and put up snowy voile curtains or sleek white blinds. Give the room trim a coat of bright white. Pull off winter’s heavier slipcovers and rugs, and substitute white canvas and cotton.
You’ll see your rooms “open up” as the light values change. Plus everything just looks cleaner, and isn’t that what spring is all about?

sweettea90987 asks: I washed a pillow case that somehow had gum in it. I did not notice it until it dried. Is there any way to get it out? It's a cotton pillow case.
answers: Soak the area with Goo Gone. Let that sit for about a half an hour. Then work the gum off with a plastic knife or even your finger.
After you've removed the gum, rub dish soap into the area. Let that sit for 20 minutes. Then launder

Me Too asks: Is it like cotton stuffing? I want to make some throw pillows, and it would be nice to use some cotton stuffing, instead of polyester. Is cotton batting like stuffing, or what?
Thanks so much. :)
answers: It's the lining for quilts, usually.
You can use it for stuffing sure, but you might want to shred it up a bit, first, to avoid lumps.
