Organic Mattress with Plastic Cover!
It seems we shouldn't expect companies to understand what the term "organic" or "natural" mean. I don't know how these companies can get such certificates when for example this mattress could be anything but organic.

We are trying to grow our baby with natural products and avoid artificial/chemical/petrol based materials. That is why we ordered this mattress. When we received the package and opened the box, there was this 100% Organic mattress with a thick plastic cover and a heavy smell of plastic!

Of course I understand why a mattress should have a plastic cover: if there is an accident, inside the mattress should remain clean. But what I don't understand is, why should I pay about $300 when our baby is going to have no contact with the organic materials that we paid for and instead all s/he is going to get would be the plastic cover?

If the only point is to have a non toxic product, I could find so many other products in the market with multiple fancy certificates for safety and much lower price.

Today I returned the product, bought another non-organic mattress from Babies R US for $135 (with a good non toxic plastic cover) and bought an organic mattress pad for that.

I really miss my childhood's all cotton mattress. Pity, you can't find those things any more.

I gave it two stars because the mattress was firm and nicely made. Otherwise, I should give it only one star.
Our baby LOVES his bed!
I don't have anything to compare this mattress to because we only have one baby. But I have to say, that since we started letting our baby sleep in his crib on this mattress, he has slep great! The mattress seems to be made very well! It is a steep price, but I think that we will buy this mattress again with our next baby.
Great choice
As we were preparing for the birth of our first child, we discussed organic baby items. My wife and I disagreed on some things, but we definitely felt it was important to have an organic mattress as the baby will spend quite a bit of time there in his early years. I'm also a firm believer of getting good quality mattresses no matter how old you are! As we started researching organic mattresses, we learned that not all mattresses that are labeled 'organic' are of the same quality. This Naturepedic had all the boxes checked. Plus, it had a high coil count, so we knew it would be durable and provide nice support for our baby until he outgrew it. The waterproof surface is nice, as we do not have to have an additional mattress pad (we haven't had the coolness issue that other reviewers note). When it arrived it did not have any scent of a chemical smell, and has extremely good quality of materials and craftmanship.
Love the mattress; shipping could be better
Granted the baby isn't here yet, but we love the mattress.

My only complaint is that the mattress came wrapped in cheap plastic that ripped during shipping. One of the corners of the mattress arrived covered in typical moving van dirt/grim. I was able to brush most of it off and then cleaned the rest off with a wet rag. Still, no one wants a new item to arrive dirty.
Very Firm Mattress
I bought this mattress for my baby's crib for his upcoming arrival. We haven't used it yet, but I am really pleased with how firm the mattress is, there are no funny smells (compared to other mattresses) and am excited that it's made in the US with organic materials. The size allows it to fit perfectly in the crib and it seems to be very durable (great for when I use it for the toddler bed and he begins jumping up and down on it!). It is a little heavy but I'd rather it be heavy than flimsy. I feel much more at ease knowing my baby will be sleeping on such a great, safe bed. Well worth the money spent, considering how much time and for how long it will be used.

Extremely Firm, to put it nicely
Or hard as a rock. So now I am buying a $200 mattress cover because it is seriously "firm" with no bounce, or give, or any sort of cushion-y feel. It doesn't feel like a mattress, it feels like a plastic plank. I would go somewhere and check these out before buying, my mistake. It was a lot for me to spend for a product I am not happy with. Although my 3 year old doesn't seem to mind sleeping on it, I never could. Also, it was very strong smelling for a few days, which surprised me because our fancy, organic king bed (from another company) had no smell whatsoever.
Non-toxic mattress for everyone!
We upgraded all beds in our household to non-toxic ones (in Europe you can't even sell mattresses that sell here because the fire retardant chemicals are much more controlled/outlawed), and the kids got two of the Naturepedics. They are comfy, waterproof (food grade polyethylene cover), don't off-gas or smell at all, and very well made. I couldn't be more pleased. In case you don't know, fire retardants have been PROVEN in New Zealand to cause SIDS and if you co-sleep, please get an organic bed with no fire retardants! Read more info on the cause and prevention of SIDS (called Cot Death in NZ) here: [...] and safeguard your baby.
Great mattress for the price.
While I don't want to put a price on my child's welfare, I knew there was no way we could afford to spend thousands of dollars on a natural/organic mattress for a toddler who was just transitioning into a bed. Sure he'd have it when he got older, but honestly, I really didn't want to deal with him ruining something we had spent a ton of money on. Toddlers being what they are.

This is a great affordable option for someone who doesn't want to compromise their health or child's health by buying a conventional mattress. I also thought it would be too firm, but it's actually not that bad. My son loves it and sleeps well.
Perfect toddler bed
If you are concerned with the formaldahyde, flame retardants and other chemicals that allowed in your childs mattress - you'll love any of Naturpedics.

These are perfect for guests with allergies or asthma, as well.

Great mattress if you like super firm
I bought this mattress for my daughter as she transitions from her crib to a big girl bed. It was important to me that she have the most natural, non-toxic sleep environment possible and this is the least expensive mattress that meets my high standards. I thought I would sleep on it for a little while to see how comfortable it is. After a few nights, I had the worst pain in my neck and upper back. This mattress is so firm that it is like sleeping on the floor. OUCH! I am buying a plush mattress topper and wool mattress pad in hopes of making the mattress more comfortable.
I have heard that children (especially small ones) should sleep on firmer surfaces, but I think this one is too firm. After more reading, I found that girls tend to like softer mattresses than boys.

Here's hoping that a plush topper will make this mattress bearable!
The ONLY Mattress for our child
This mattress is so comfortable for our 2yr old son and even for us as well. We could not have made a better choice - with its support and plush feel. Look no further than naturepedic for the organic choice.

great!
this fit very well, even after washing and drying. was even softer than i expected. hvae only washed and dried once, since the baby isn't here yet, but i am so far very pleased.
Excellent Pad!
I can't add much more that the other reviewers haven't already said. It's soft (but not so soft that it overshadows the firmness of the crib mattress), washes easily, and fits the mattress perfectly. I didn't really feel the need to buy an organic mattress pad (I don't really see the benefit) so it did seem a little expensive, but with such excellent quality the two pads I bought for this baby (our first) will easily work through his crib years and will last for baby #2 (whenever that may be).
Great Product
I highly recommend this product. I tried other crib pads before but none has the quality of this product. It's well worth the price.
Amazing
This is an amazing crib pad. Super soft. Thick. Organic cotton. Waterproof. I couldn't ask for anything more.
the best we've had
This is probably my 5th mattress pad in 3.5 years, and by far THE BEST. It is high-quality, thick & well-made. It fits on the mattress without any problem - it is plenty big & the sides are stretchy & it stays put perfectly. It's worth every penny & I'll be buying more in the future.

Love these!
These are so super, they should be as necessary a purchase as diapers. I keep one upstairs on the changing table and one downstairs. They're a good substantial size and they wash well. I use Oxiclean Baby stain pretreater and breastfed poo comes right off with no stains, even when they sit for days (maybe that's kudos to Oxiclean too but it doesn't always work that well on my son's clothes!). They come out of the dryer super puffy-fluffy, so they seem very comfy for baby. The organic fabric is a plus, although like another review said, the organic cotton pills easily, but that's only an aesthetic problem.

The only con is that because they're so puffy, I can't imagine they would be easy to fit into a diaper bag. But they are a must for having around your house.
Perfect for diaper changing station
I put this on top of the contoured diaper changing pad, and it's much easier to take off to wash than the fitted covers. It washes and dries well and seems very soft and comfy. It's just big enough to cover the top of my contoured pad.
Works great for a few things, can't really travel with it
I use these on the diaper changing pad, instead of other covers. Works great and is cushy feeling. Only complaints I have are that they were slightly smaller than I expected, and puffier than I expected. Meaning I can't really use these under sheets on her bed, or in the pack n plays, nor can I travel with them. However, I can just use the other waterproof pads I have for that stuff and use these exclusively for the changing spaces-- so no big deal. Just be aware of what you're buying.

One additional comment, and this may just be my EBF baby and my washer/well water, but for some reason all the 'organic' cotton items we have stain a lot easier than the non-organic ones. Go figure.
Multi-useless if you ask me
I bought both the Snoozy Organic Flannel Cotton Waterproof Multi Use Pad smaller 2 pack as well as as the larger single pad. I don't know why these were so expensive. The organic cotton fabric is of very poor quality. It doesn't stand up well to frequent washings, which you honestly need to do quite often with these. They are waterproof, but I wouldn't call them absorbent. Once they get peed on, sweated enough on, or slightly damp by some other way, they act like a sponge ready to let go of any retained liquid at the slightest touch. As soon as they're damp, I have to wash them! And literally, it doesn't take much to make them feel damp. It's probably due to the polyester stuffing--it makes it fluffy, buy that stuff will not hold moisture.

When I decided to buy these, I thought I being smart. I could use these as changing pads, as extra-protection beneath my baby (especially when he slept), to nurse in a side-lying position. . .but these haven't been very useful at all. Honestly, it's been easier for me just to use towels for these multi-uses. And I thought I would save money with these. I wish I would have gotten a Bowron lambskin for my baby instead. It seemed too expensive at the time, but now I realize it would be a better buy and will order one soon. Even a plain old bath towel is more absorbent than these, if not waterproof. Granted, these pads only claim to be "waterproof" (which they are) and not "absorbent," but then what's of adding all the extra padding that trap extra moisture only to quickly release it? It would make more sense to just have the waterproof material with organic cotton on top without ANY polyester padding in the middle. That way it could air dry quickly, thereby being more comfortable for my baby to be on longer. Or if it had no fabric or padding, I could wipe moisture away. At least I didn't rely solely on these to protect my mattress from baby-related fluids; I got a Naturepedic Organic Waterproof Mattress Pad too. It works great and holds up in the wash!
Essential for a newborn
These pads have been invaluable. At first, before baby arrived, my husband didn't see how these would be so essential, but he quickly changed his mind the first week w/ our newborn son. We ordered another 2-pack so we would have extras on standby for when the others were in the wash or soiled. We keep one in the crib, one on the changing pad, and anywhere else our baby is and there is the potential for a diaper blow-out (i.e., on top of the Boppy pillow while nursing) or a spit-up mishap. After quite a few washings, the pads are holding up well, no pilling, and still doing their job. I washed in warm water to work on the stains and that worked good, after first rinsing w/ hot water and treating with Bac-Out stain remover.
