big difference
I am currently deployed. We have mattresses that are not in the best of shape. They are very well worn. Upon receiving this pad, I aired it out for a couple days to get rid of the smell associated with foam. Then put it on the bed and have slept better ever since. No more tossing and turning on the old mattress. I recommend this pad to anyone as it is so comfortable.

Best Sleep Yet
I bought the 3 inch thick mattress topper. I had no problem with the smell, as some people have mentioned, and slept on the mattress that night. I was a little hot the first night, but with an adjustment in clothing, fan speed and taking an extra blanket off of the bed, I was great the next night. I have not been at all sore in the mornings since starting to sleep on this mattress topper. I would highly recommend for people who have lower back and hip pain. Mine has been all but eliminated in a matter of 2 weeks.

So Soft!
I had to buy special sheets to use this product, because mine were too shallow, but except for that... Oh my gosh. I love this thing. I sleep better, and I'm over all more comfortable in my bed now. I would recommend it to anybody.

I ordered this before i saw some of the comments. I got a little worried. The shipping was extremly fast. I thought the topper was a little thin, but its good enough for me. I wouldnt pay 60 bucks for it tho. I'd pay like 40 or 50.
memory foam mattress
My 7 year old loved the memory foam mattress that we hauled out for our futon every time we had company. She begged us to let her sleep on the futon instead of her bed because she was so comfortable. I wasn't sure how this would work out because our other memory foam mattress is about 6 inches thick. We bought this and immediately unwrapped it and left it outside to "air out" as others had suggested. It had a vinyl type smell but was gone in a day. Once we put it on my daughters twin mattress, she was in heaven! She loved it. I highly recommend this for bunk beds or other beds that don't have the box spring mattress underneath. Just a mattress can become hard and you start to feel the springs after a while. This really made my daughters bed comfy. Surprising because it was only 1 1/2 inches thick. Would definitely recommend!

i have this actually 2x of these on my bed...i love it but i think i will buy 2 more. they are only $55 at any walmart and you don't have to pay shipping. 2 make it comfy and 2 more should make it perfect. the 1 1/2 are the only ones that are true memory foam. watch for larger and more expensive ones that are a blend.
Serta 3-Pound "Memory Foam"? Mattress
I sleep with a Nova memory foam mattress topper (bought from Costco in Canada) and found it very good. This summer I sublet an apartment for a couple of months and ordered a Serta 3-pound memory foam (supposedly a memory form) mattress topper. It was already on the bed when I arrived at the apartment. I immediately felt that it was not actually memory foam. Then I looked at the actual topper and found that it was just foam, which is quite different from memory foam. I definitely would not recommend this particular brand. In my opinion, the label "memory foam" was a false label.

I was having trouble sleeping on the mattress in my dorm. who knows how long its been since they changed the mattress but it was like sleeping on a bed of rocks. once i got the foam pad first thing i noticed was that it didnt not smell with the exception of a very faint smell which was gone the next day. sleeping on it is like being on a cloud i dont wake up in the middle of the night nor do i have any pain in my back. this pad is a good price and a great product you would be silly not to buy one.
Makes a huge difference
I'm renting a furnished room with a terrible bed. The mattress is thin and uncomfortable, and you can feel the springs poking through. I didn't think that 2 inches of foam would do much good, but tried it out anyways. Wow, it makes a big difference! The bed is now comfortable enough to fall asleep easily and my back isn't sore in the morning. It also makes the bed a little less noisy when I roll over. This is really worth the money if you have an uncomfortable bed and either can't or can't afford to replace it. Also, I had heard that memory foam smelled bad, but this one doesn't.

Excellent Mattress Enhancer
Since I bought this I've been sleeping better and I had a pain on my side that is gone since I've been sleeping on this Memory foam enhancer. And the price is fenominal.
My back feels much better after ONE night
My new firm mattress wasn't supporting my lower back enough and I was waking up with a stiff back. No complaints from my husband, he liked the way the bed felt. I had 60 days to return the mattress for a softer one, but my salesman suggested I should get a foam topper. "You can make a firm bed softer, but not a softer bed firmer", was his advise. So, I opted for this foam pad. After one night, no stiffness. My husband was skeptical and worried he wouldn't like it, but so far, no complaints. We still feel the firm mattress, but little bit of cushion makes a big difference. The package was easy to unroll, NO smell either. Very pleased.

a little too short for dorm bed
The mattress topper was not quite long enough for my daughter's dorm bed, even though it was a Twin XL. She likes it, however and says it is very comfortable.
Sleep so much better!
I bought this in hopes that we would not have to go out and buy a whole new mattress set. So far, SO GOOD! Slept on it last night and did not toss and turn all night long (like i normally do) and didn't feel stiff or sore when i woke up. Best investment i've made in awhile!

I Love This Mattress Topper
We live in Phoenix, so I was worried about it being too warm. I'm happy to report that all is well. Our mattress is 6 years old, but now it feels brand new. Being pregnant, I definitely have fond feelings towards this topper. Gives extra support, but it's still so soft. Great, great, great addition.

As for other comments... The pad fit our bed perfectly, sheets were fine too. There was a slight smell, but it went away immediately. Packaging was one box, about 2'x2'x2'. Had nice handles on the box for carrying from the leasing office, too.

Short term memory only
I bought the 4" version of this. The pad opened nicely over a few hours and the odor dissipated within a day or two. So far so good.

The idea of memory foam is that when you press it down, it stays pressed for a while. But apparently not all visco-elastic (memory foams) are created equal. There are shades of grey, from old-fashioned bounce-right-back foams at one end to high quality viscoelastics which take a long time to bounce back from impressions, and retain that property in use. The market leader in this field (starts with a "T") claims they have a proprietary process to manufacture the foam which gives it a slow recovery and a long service life. I had assumed this was marketing hype, but after using this Serta-labeled topper, I am more ready to believe it may be true.

This product is in the middle; it starts out with a modest memory property, somewhere in-between true viscoelastic and the old bouncy stuff. It's nice to sleep on, I like it, and I recommend it, especially at the low price. But it's not real memory foam. And note that one website which sells this Serta brand has the following warning: "Due to the nature of Memory Foam the firmness level of every item is unique. Please be advised that even similar products may produce different firmness results." What? Every item unique? We expect that from buying strawberries, but not manufactured products.

My conclusion is that the most reliable high quality memory foam on the market is probably that very expensive "T" stuff, and to get that effect there is no other choice. This topper item is not bad at all. You may like it as an improvement over what you have now, and it costs way less. But don't expect it to have the same strong permanent viscoelastic property.
Bought 4-inch instead of 2-inch. LOVE IT!!!
Don't judge this product without getting the 4-inch. I have slept on the 4-inch 4-lb Serta Memory Foam Queen topper for 2 weeks now. I wanted to be able to give an accurate review. I have a pinched disc, and have had 3 spinal injections within the last 6months. I also suffer from insomnia. This is the BEST purchase I have ever made! My back feels 100% better, and I have slept so much better than before. It feels like you are floating on a cloud. I was worried that it would feel too soft, but it doesn't. It is perfect! I do have a mattress cover over both the topper and my mattress, and have deep pocket sheets over those. If I do wake up during the night, which is much less now, I almost don't mind because it feels so good. I did have to switch to my thinner foam pillows (I am a side sleeper), because your body is ever so slightly lower than it was before, cradled in pure comfort. Be careful to follow the instructions at the bottom of the box. It is heavy, and I could see how dragging it could possibly tear it. My daughter & I were able to carry it from the living room into the bedroom, and arrange it on the bed quite easily though. Do not be alarmed by the odor when you first unwrap it. It does smell TERRIBLE when you first take it out & let it unroll by itself. The odor was COMPLETELY gone in far less than the 24hrs it says. You can't beat the prices on here, and I did a LOT of comparison shopping before deciding on this purchase. It is PRICELESS!!!
comfy but not durable
I bought the 4" version of the 4-lb mattress topper about 2 years ago. After about a year or 1.5 years of use, it started seriously deteriorating.

Finally today (after months of putting up with lying in "crevasses" of broken mattress pad) we threw it out. It was falling apart into chunks that looked just like crumbly sponge-cake; the only way it even held together enough for us to even carry it out was by carrying it rolled up in a sheet.

I was hoping it would last longer than this. Although it was comfortable while it lasted, I would not buy a Serta brand memory foam mattress topper again.
Makes a firm or cheap mattress feel like a $2000 mattress
I actually bought this mattress on overstock for about 79 dollars...make sure you buy one size up then cut the excess with a sharp kitchen knife. This topper is not too soft, not too firm. If you have bad joints from RA or some other medical condition, I would highly recommend a memory foam topper. It relieves any pressure off the joint so that you don't "feel" the mattress underneath you.
