HENDERSON - In most hit-and-run cases, the driver leaves immediately before anyone can get a good look at them. But in this case, the victim says the driver stopped, walked up to him and then left moments later.
Brandon Wood was taken to the hospital after the accident Friday afternoon on Interstate 76 near 88th Avenue.
He was trying to get a futon mattress off the interstate so that other drivers wouldn't get hurt.
Wood is lucky to have only scrapes and bruises after a car struck him at a high rate of speed. The driver then stopped, got out of her car and walked up to the group of people who had surrounded him.
"The lady who hit me came up and they said, 'Are you the lady who hit this man?' and he said, 'I don't know.' And o looked at her and said, 'How do you not know you just hit me?'" Wood said.
