TINY pieces!
Absolutely love the Calico Critters line...my kids had something very similar when they were young now my granddaughter has them and loves the little house and the furniture! However.. the age recommendation for these items should be heeded and adhered to..I even think a 3 year old should be supervised due to the fact that the accessories that come with these furniture sets are MINISCULE and are a huge temptation for little ones to pop one in their mouths. My daughter kept the little pieces and just gave my granddaughter the furniture to play with until she is older! Unless you have the time to sit and supervise your kids with this item and the others like it, I would suggest withholding the tiny accessories!!

Putting baby to bed can be a true test of patience. But with any job, the going is always easier with the right tool. For speeding baby off to dreamland, this cradle is the right tool. Your baby will love the gentle swinging motion of trestle style suspension. And, once awake, the little one will be able to look at the world through the open sides. This is a good project for beginning woodworkers because there are only eight different parts to cut out. Standard-size lumber and wood dowels are inexpensive and parts assemble with screws and glue. There are two ways to build this cradle. One, shown in the photo, has the full rocking action. It has the pivot suspension and the rocking stand. It has a very easy and pleasant action. The effect on the infant is similar to that produced by a cradle suspended from the ceiling with 4 foot cords. The second design may be preferred if you have other small children who might rock the cradle hard enough to upset it. This design has a stand with flat footing on the floor. This will resist upsetting much better yet will allow the 'basket' to continue limited rocking from its pivot points at the top. Finished Dimensions: Height: 30 inches (76.2 cm) Width: 37 inches (94 cm) Depth: 21 inches (53.3 cm) About this woodworking plan: Full pattern templates printed on one 30 x 40 inch sheet.

Great product for the price...
As most noted on here already, it takes a long time to assemble. But the instructions were very easy to follow. Im 8 months prego and it took me about 4.5 hours to assemble - be prepared for lots of parts. I was too impatient to wait for my husband to do it. But it was easy and not too hard to do alone. As far as the look/style of the table, it it very attractive. It is worth the price. I was attracted to it because of the price, and it is worth what it costs. Doesnt feel flimsy or cheap once all put together, in fact it is rather heavy. Good product - would recommend. Didnt rate it a 5 only because of the long assembly and there were a few minor imperfections in the wood - but it came with a correction marker for any of those spots.
Not at all what I expected! Terrible!
We bought this from Amazon based on most of the positive reviews I read about it on their site. Unfortunately, my husband and I were unable to share their experiences! We did not find it easy to assemble, it looks super cheap and I'm not sure how comfortable I'm going to be placing our soon-to-be-born son on it for changing!

We are not morons by any means and I am quite proficient when it comes to DIY assembly, but it took me two hours just to get the drawers "together." None of the screw and peg holes lined up properly, so I had to jimmy-rig most of it, use wood glue and hope for the best. My husband did the rest of the table with a bit of assistance from me, but he also had issues.

My biggest complaint, however, is the quality. South Shore includes a "disclaimer" sheet about the colors not being consistent because you won't see these sides and it's greener for the environment...no, they're just cheap and reusing leftover pieces. The front of the drawer is "cherry," but the rest of the drawer is a blonde oak-ish veneer. My girlfriend's son's changing table drawers are like that, too, but they're REAL WOOD! Also, the company includes a stain marker with the table because half of it is already scratched up when you open it!

All in all, I'm glad I didn't pay a lot for this and received free shipping, otherwise I would be very angry! Yes, I should've called South Shore to complain, but let's be honest - it's usually just a waste of time and I don't have the time or desire to take it apart (good luck considering the glue!) and ship it back (if they would even accept it). This was the first time and perhaps the last time I'll buy furniture online.
Great Changing Table! Worth the Price!
I was hesitant to order a changing table sight unseen, but after reading the reviews and looking at VERY expensive changing tables that were similar, I decided to go for it. I haven't regreted my purchase once. It is functional, nice looking and not something that I am going to worry about getting rid of when we are done having babies due to the cheap price. I bought 3 baskets for mine. One is for socks, one is for lotions, powders, etc. and one is for diapers. The drawers a large enough to fit all my blankets and some clothes that I chose to not hang up. I highly recommend this product.
changing table
The product came much sooner than the quoted ETA, which was great. Under promise over deliver. The changing table came in mint condition. And the color and quality surpassed my expectations. I would have given it a 5 if it would have came with the changing pad. I am struggling finding one that fits inside the designated area like I want it to. Another successful transaction with Amazon.
Very Impressed!!!
I was very impressed with how quickly the changing table got delivered and the very impressed with the condition of it. It is even more beautiful in person, the picture does it no justice.

What People ask about Baby Bedroom Furniture

When is a good time to start buying bedroom furniture for my baby?

nellina2009 aksed: I am only 12 weeks now, I haven't bought a single thing yet! I know some woman I know who had so much stuff at 12 weeks, but personally I think 6 months its LOTS of time for shopping still.
Also I'll be having a baby shower in late August or September, however I live a 5 hour flight from my parents house (where I'll be having the shower) therefore I wont be getting many gifts because I need to bring everything back home with me, so therefore I'll most likely will be getting gift certificates and baby clothes rather then big ticket items. Plus I'm having a Christmas baby, so when my family comes for Christmas I will most likely get more baby stuff then too. So when should I start my baby shopping? I don't want to be strained for cash either so spreading out buying things is probably ideal for me as well.

What did you do, what was your game plan? How did you organize and decide what all you needed and when? I KNOW there is TONNES of stuff I need because I need EVERYTHING... where do I begin ?

Thanks

little monkey in the oven answered: I am 24,6 weeks right now. Me and my hubby decided to start buying things this week. We went and bought the crib and the stroller. This weekend there is a big community yard sale so I will go looking 4 baby clothes there. I am going to buy the clothes gently used because they grow so fast. Personally I don't mind as long as there is no stains on them. We are going to start cleaning the room to change into a nursery in about 2 weeks. It is are home office atm. Once that is done it will be easier bringing things in the house since we will have the room for it. My goal is to have most of it done by 33 weeks weeks and have the finish touches buy 35 weeks. In the last few weeks It will be so hot that I am probably gonna be tiered to do much and it will allow me to prepare other things. I want to have pre-made home made meals in my freezer for the 1st week or so. It is just something that will help me, since I will be a 1st time mom and dunno what to expect.

It depends. We went to Baby Depot in March to pick out a crib. They told us a 12 week wait for the crib. My due date is 7/1, so I thought we had plenty of time. We're now being told a 20 week wait. That's 3 weeks after my due date.

Better to be safe than sorry.

Baby nursery 'must-haves'?

PSD aksed: Hi everyone! I pregnant with my first baby and due in November. After she is born, my husband and I will be moving in with my parents for about 6 months to a year to save money and get help with the baby. All three of us will be sharing one bedroom. My question is regarding the 'must-haves' for baby furniture. We've already decided that we're going to use a bassinet instead of a crib and a dresser for all her things. What about a changing table? Is there anything else we absolutely need? We're basically trying to save as much space as we can, but we also don't want to limit the important things we'll need for the baby.

Thanks in advance!

answered: If your baby's dresser is about hip height you can just buy a thick curved changing pad to put on top of the dresser and voila! dresser/changing table! :) i also agree to get a really good pack n play with a bassinet. I bought the precious planet playard for $115. It is well built, sturdy, and includes a attachable changing table, bassinet, mobile, AND a side pocket for diapers and wipes and creams for baby. It's neutral and can be used for a boy and girl. My son loves it when we travel and he has to sleep in it! That was the best investment for us by far! I also loved the portable swing we bought. It was also from the precious planet line. Its battery operated and will lull baby to sleep when you need a break for a bath or a nap. it was about $40 i think. also you will probably want a low light lamp or a bright night light for the night time changes and feedings. you dont want the room to be very bright because baby needs to determine night from day asap. at first we just used a low light lamp then just used a night light when we got comfortable doing everything. another great investment is a cd player. i bought ours from a dollar store and it just plugs into the wall and i always play a cd of music or lullabies or the radio. you definitely don't want baby to get used to the silence because you will be forced to tip toe around the house when he/she is sleeping! those are pretty much the basics that we used for our baby. we lived on our own but baby still shared the room with us. good luck! :) its truly the best experience!
