His 450-square-foot home recently nabbed first place in Apartment Therapy's Small, Cool 2010 contest. The popular design blog's sixth annual competition honors the "smallest, coolest" homes around the globe (http://contests.apartmenttherapy.com/2010/small-cool). Blog editors featured 165 spaces out of the 500-plus submissions they received, and readers selected Nguyen's as their favorite.
