More than 2M cribs recalled amid safety concerns
The Consumer Product Safety Commission says most of the cribs are drop-sides, which have a side rail that moves up and down so parents can lift children from them more easily. That movable side can malfunction or detach from the crib and create a dangerous gap where babies’ heads can become trapped.
The companies involved in the recall are Evenflo, Delta Enterprises Corp., Child Craft, Jardine Enterprises, LaJobi, Million Dollar Baby and Simmons Juvenile Products Inc.
There are reports of at least 16 infants becoming trapped in the cribs.

What People ask about Convertible Crib Bed
which is the convertible crib for baby with a price range of 100 to 250?Can you please suggest a best mattress?
binku aksed: Hi, I am looking for the best affordable crib ( convertible ) and mattress to buy at store. Also can you please let me know where i can buy affordable bedding set. Thank you.

This is what we bought. The mattress is very firm, which is ideal for infants in case they roll over. You don't want a mattress where they sink down and can't breathe!

I suggest going to Target for bedding sets. You can buy things separately. Which is good because bumpers are very unsafe!

Are "drop cribs" and convertible cribs (cribs that convert to toddler beds) the same?
Jen L aksed: My husband and I are having our first child. We've selected a crib on our registry which is a converter crib (converts to a toddler bed). It is also adjustable. I wanted to know if anyone knows if this type of crib is the same as the "drop cribs" which have recently been recalled by manufacturers because of infant deaths. I want to make sure that we don't order the convertible crib if it's the same thing!
Carolyn D answered: A drop-crib is a crib that has one side which drops or lowers down to make it easier to reach the child in the crib. This is good for people who are on the shorter side, those who expect to be pregnant again while they still have a child in a crib (trust me, reaching a toddler in a crib while pregnant is a feat!), or those who have trouble reaching/lifting.
A convertible crib, on the other hand, is one that can be converted into something other than a crib. Often a convertible crib can be made into a daybed with the same crib mattress and then a full-size bed with the addition of a full-size mattress and bedrails (essentially the crib becomes the head and footboard.)
I don't think that drop-side cribs are convertible, but there may be models out there that are both.
The recent recall did not involve all drop-side cribs, just certain ones. And I believe they were made by a company that no longer exists, if I remember right, so you wouldn't be able to register for a crib from that comany anyhow. There have been recalls on convertible cribs as well, for a number of different reasons. Unfortunately it seems that cribs are recalled quite often. But any that are recalled should be immediately removed from stores, so you wouldn't be able to register for one that's been recalled.
