There was the great cricket World Cup high last weekend and we will never get enough of it. But there was a backstory which was being filed in between those moments of a resurgent, triumphant India. It was of a new-found confidence, bordering on nonchalance and arrogance, it was of displaying true grain and ripping apart the chaff of gentility, it was about dripping raw passion like unsparing tropical heat, it was about literally bleeding saffron, green and white and legitimising the “Hum Hindustani” over the “I’m an Indian”.
