BEND, Ore. — It's becoming easier and easier for yurt fans to become yurt campers in Central Oregon.

Three new yurts are planned for the Link Creek Campground in the Deschutes National Forest. These join the yurts built last fall and opened over the winter at Crescent Lake Campground farther south. Counting the two winter-only yurts available through Three Sisters Backcountry, Inc. and the seven for rent at Tumalo State Park, the new yurts bring the Central Oregon total to 15.

“Everybody, basically, is looking for some sort of retreat or place to get away, and the yurt really fills the bill,” said Alan Bair, the president and founder of Pacific Yurts in Cottage Grove.

Does anybody know where I can get a twin over full staircase bunk bed?

I Am An Oreo! aksed: See I would prefer the wood would be black but any color is fine, I would like a staircase instead of a ladder, the bottom bunk should be full size and the top should be twin, I want the top bunk to face horizontal and the bottom to face vertical: in other words I want to be able to jump down from the top bunk to the bottom. Home Climbing wall matericlas and construction?

Chris aksed: Hi i was thinking about making my office/bunk bed into a mini little climbing wall, underneath where i sleep, just to practice on. However looking at the prices of wood, etc i thought maybe not.

Currently everywhere i look you need 18mm plywood for a indoor climbing wall 'woody' but would a thinner piece be good enough? Also please could someone link me websites that sell cheep climbing holds.

answered: You need that thickness to have enough strength in the wood to hold the weight of a person on the holds and enough strength in the hold fixings themselves through the wood. You would use thick back plates on the fixing bolts to spread the stress on the wood and they also help by giving some friction hold as well as the normal bolt holding and so giving more strength to the fixing and better traction against the board.
You don't get good points for cheap work in climbing walls. No cutting corners. It's not a cheap thing to build if you want it to be safe.
Holds can be the bolts themselves with stress plates and nuts front and back, at least 1/2" Whitworth and long enough to get a full nut depth onto it at the back with the inch or two or whatever you want of free bolt at the front, allowing for the depth of the nut again. The nut can be hidden in a wood block which can be fixed to the metal stress plate or glued to the board.
Wooden blocks for holds can be cut and sanded to the sizes and shapes required, drilled for 1/2" Whitworth steel bolts , and should be of good grade hardwood which can be expensive to buy from a lumber yard. Stress plates should be fitted front and back and the bolts secured with large diameter nuts and spring washers to put pressure on the plates and increase the strength of the fixing.
Alternatively the wood blocks can be glued and screwed using high quality steel screws countersunk and of a length to sink almost all the way through the ply if screwing from the front. Screw from the back through the ply into the blocks if the blocks are more than 3/4" thick when using 18mm board, but that is suitable only for large properly glued blocks having space for three or four screws, each having a separation of two inches or more to avoid too much stress on a small area of the ply sheet. All screw holes should be drilled with an appropriate sized drill bit preferably of the type designed for drilling graded screw holes for specific sizes of screws to get maximum traction of the screw against the wood.
Bolts are far safer to fix wood blocks, with heavy duty stress plates front and back.
